The Windrise Wind Project commenced construction in April, 2020 and achieved commercial operation in November, 2021. The 206MW Project consists of 43 wind turbines and a 21 km long transmission line. Canadian Projects Limited, A Tetra Tech Company, completed engineering design for the balance of plant works including foundations, roads, collector and substation in collaboration with specialist consultants under its direction and management. CPL also provided project management, procurement support and construction management services.
TransAlta, through its wholly owned subsidiary Windrise Wind LP, is the Project owner.
The Project is located approximately 29 km southwest of Fort Macleod, Alberta adjacent to TransAlta’s operating Soderglen and Ardenville Wind facilities. The Project is one of three successful proponents of AESO’s 2018 REP Round 3 and was awarded a 20-year long-term contract.
